Frequently Asked Questions About Prayer

What is prayer?

Prayer is simply talking with God—sharing your heart, your needs, your gratitude, and listening for His guidance.

Does God really hear my prayers?

One of the most comforting truths in the Christian faith is that God is never distant or disinterested. The Bible repeatedly affirms that He hears us when we pray, whether our words are spoken aloud or whispered silently in our hearts. Prayer is not just a ritual—it is a living conversation with the Creator who loves us deeply and desires to be involved in every detail of our lives.

Are there scriptures that let me know God hears me?

There are several scriptures that let us know God hears us, but here are two scriptures to reference: “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” Jeremiah 29:12. The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Psalm 145:18

Can prayer really change things?

Yes—prayer can change situations, hearts, and even us. Scripture shows countless examples of God responding to prayer. James 5:16 says, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

Why should I keep praying if I don’t see answers right away?

God’s timing is perfect, even when it feels delayed. Prayer is not only about requests—it’s about building trust and relationship with Him. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 encourages us to “pray without ceasing,” reminding us that persistence in prayer strengthens our faith and keeps us connected to God.
